Child Support

The court uses a formula to set the amount of child support paid from one parent to the other. The formula must be used unless your case presents exceptional circumstances. The formula is located on the state's website at this link. Go there and play with the numbers to get an idea of the level of support that you will either pay or receive. The court usually orders that child support be paid until a child's l8th birthday. Support may be extended to age 21 if the child is attending school. Support for a child attending school is usually paid directly to the child.
